Torrens Receives Distinction from Moms Demand Action

Promises to bring common sense solutions to Florida’s ongoing issues with gun violence.

TAMPA, Fla – May 10, 2018 – Ryan Torrens, consumer lawyer and Democratic candidate for Florida Attorney General, announced that he has been given the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction. Moms Demand Action (MDA) is the latest grassroots group to support Torrens in his bid to succeed Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“I am very proud to receive this distinction,” said Torrens. “It is because of passionate groups like MDA, who continue to be a voice in our political dialogue, that we will see real change.” “These people want a voice to represent them in the attorney general’s office to protect their children and families…and Gen. Bondi has never been that voice.”

“I have been speaking with groups like MDA often as I have crossed the state campaigning in the past 11 months. Early on in this campaign season, I brought forth some day-1 working solutions to help curb gun violence in this state, as its next AG. I will stand with and protect the rights of our municipalities to design local firearms ordinances to protect our children, so long as they comply with the constitution.”

“As I stand with MDA, I have also stood with the Florida Education Association (FEA) in opposing bringing more guns into Florida classrooms. I strongly support the increased funding for Student Resource Officers & Deputies, who not only deter gun violence, but also often act as mentors to students.”

Torrens has been campaigning across the State of Florida, all the while fighting for his clients as a consumer protection lawyer. He says that he is running to put the Attorney General’s office back on the side of consumers again.

Thank you for visiting our page! I am a consumer protection attorney who defends Florida homeowners in foreclosure and sues big banks, debt collectors, and other big corporations for ripping people off.

On June 1, 2017, I announced my candidacy for Florida Attorney General. Believing that how much justice you get should not depend on how much money you have, I ran on a platform of fighting for everyday Floridians and standing up to big corporate interests. During our 15 month campaign, I followed through on our pledge to refuse even one penny in big corporate campaign contributions. Though we fell short, we are proud of the grassroots campaign we ran and over 365,000 Floridians joined our cause and voted for our campaign. On election night, I promised to never stop fighting and I asked you to never stop fighting! So in this connection, we are going to keep this page - what used to be our campaign Facebook page - up and running. I am going to be focusing on the causes I’m most passionate about - fighting for our consumers, advocating for addiction recovery, and doing everything I can to make sure we advance a progressive, pro-people agenda here in Florida!
